Regenerative living soils.
Regenerative farming goes beyond being chemical free. We are most concerned with caretaking the soil as a habitat for beneficial bacteria and mycorrhizal fungi, to build organic matter and store carbon. See Paul & Elizabeth Kaiser – Bio-intensive No-Till Farm or for a more detailed discussion check out: No-till Farmers Elizabeth and Paul Kaiser Keynote 2017 NOFA/Mass Winter Conference
These organisms will build the organic matter as 'stable' carbon in the soil and make the nutrients that are already in the soil available to plants. A cascade of interactions between the soil and the plants results in food that is highly nutritious, resistant to disease that also has medicinal qualities. They will also support higher order life forms such as worms to further enhance your healthy growing system.
“If we want to truly produce food as medicine and have plants with that have functional immune systems, these crops need to have this top performing photo synthetic activity….”

When backyard gardeners and farmers alike start working with the land in a way that stores carbon in the soil, individuallyWE WILL MAKE A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE to reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere if we act now.
